About
Our Mission
Promote and encourage women in fusion
- Advance gender parity through networking and the promotion of women in science at all educational levels, emphasizing the need for inclusive practices to increase the number of women hired, retained, and elevated to senior leadership roles throughout all fusion organizations.
- Promote the establishment of positive work environments that champion diversity, promote equity, and break down barriers to advancement in the workplace.
- Acknowledge the many contributions made by women in fusion science, research, and technology, and increase the visibility of work carried out by women at the forefront of fusion.
- Promote fusion as an essential technology for safe, clean, affordable, and always-on energy.
“Women must play an active role in the development of new technologies to help society - the path for that needs to be paved”
Our VISION
Encourage women
Women in Fusion will be the global platform for highlighting the role that women play in advancing cutting-edge research and technology in fusion. The organization will promote networking and opportunities for women in our field to learn from each other’s experiences, collaborate, and advance professionally.
Women in Fusion will serve as a resource both within and outside of our community to influence policy and promote equity and diversity within our field.
ORGANIZATION
WiF members
Women in Fusion was established following the 2021 IAEA’s Fusion Energy Conference (FEC2020), which included a widely viewed webinar on the need to increase the representation of women in fusion science and research. (Women in Fusion at FEC 2020 – YouTube).
The reactions to the webinar were powerful – and clearly showed the need for more representations at key events on this topic.
